Kalco’s Cirrus Glass Panel Pendant

Kalco Lighting Cirrus 24 inch pendant light

New to our online store is Kalco Lighting, and one of the most interesting pendant lighting fixtures I’ve seen is the Cirrus 24 inch pendant light. This metallic orgy of a fixture has a neo-post modern industrial feel to it, and is absolutely ideal for large lofts, atriums, mezzanines, or restaurant and bar illumination. There are three options: chemical bronze finish with bronze bubble glass designed for the Road Warrior crowd; Gun Metal finish with smoke bubble glass for the Blade Runner aficionados; or Satin Nickel finish with clear bubble glass, for you sophisticates. The fixture is suspended by a canopy of wires, for extra support, and tension. These are made to order, so no two are alike. And they are of Iron construction, so take note, Stark Industries! This is the pendant for your emclave!

For me, this is the best of both worlds, as by day I am a lighting designer, lamp salesman, and by night, a cool keyboard player jazz musician. I have been playing piano for 31 years, and selling lighting fixtures for 10, so I guess you could say this is my element. Well, the name of the game for this genre of fixtures is House of Troy, the leader in picture lights and piano lamps. So how do you pick a piano lamp? First off, if you’re a classical musician, you probably lean to a formal style of piano fixture, with brass or bronze finish, a marble base, and an adjustable neck, to compensate for different types of sheet music. If you have a spinet or upright, a black, granite, or polished nickel piano lamp usually works fine. Just allow for space on the top of the piano. The Clip on fixtures are designed for grand pianos with wood music stands, but I have notice a trend lately with classical musicians to utilize the balance beam models, depending on the configuration of the piano music stand, and to avoid direct glare from the light. The P14-250-617 Specialty Black Piano Lamp is what I suggest for electronic keyboards, progressive rock players, jazz fusion, and world beat set ups. It’s light weight, great for gigging, and won’t break the bank. The three keys in choosing a keyboard lamp are light, look, and longetivity, in choosing the right piano lamp for your needs.

May I suggest the Bistro Contemporary Satin Nickel Kitchen Island Light with Pot Rack from Forecast Lighting. This is, without a doubt, the most practical light fixture I have ever seen, and when I build my dream home in Brazil, I’m taking this with me. With a strong industrial modern look, this Kitchen Island fixture features 46″ x 20″ width, 23″ height, and 97″ Maximum hang from ceiling and uses three 60 watt incandescent bulb. Cookware not included, but at this price ($538.20), who cares? You have money left over to buy your pots and pans.

If your kitchen is bigger than mine, you probably should think about purchasing Kitchen Island Lighting. I know, it seems extravagant, but nowadays most people spend more time around the Kitchen counter or island area than anywhere else in the home (except for the bathroom). Proper lighting is essential to having a good meal, good conversation, and quality time with your family or friends. I am going to recommend the Dragonfly Garden Oblong Kitchen Island Light. This Asian, fantasy inspired art deco Kitchen island Fixture comes in just under $900.00, and measures 20″ Height , 48″ Width, 16” depth, and uses three 100W incandescent medium base bulbs, for more than enough brightness. The design contains nearly 1,300 stained glass ornaments, and you will never tire of gazing into the patterns while you munch away on your toast and eggs. A lovely fixture, from Quoizel Lighting.
