What will they think of next? This lamp is composed of an entire extension cord, wrapped around to fit like a lamp. The bright orange color makes it a sure bet for autumn and Halloween décor, and at $150.00, the price range is acceptable for a novelty table lamp. This is form as function, and I am happy to see more of these types of fixtures. It’s like that commercial advertising Design Center on TV, where you can “create the next big thing in lighting” or something to that effect. So, in keeping with that theme, here are a few ideas:
- I want to see a Pterodactyl shaped lamp. This would be great for museums like the La Brea tarpits, Natural Museum of History, any classroom where they teach history, geology, or as a cool fixture for themed restaurants and amusement park.
- A lamp shaped like the Wright Brothers Kitty Hawk. The Smithsonian would dig that.
- The War of the Worlds lamp. Yes, I wrote a blog about a Hubbardton Forge fixture that resembled those, but how about a licensed version? This would be a hit at Comic-Con.
- A spider web lamp, using fiber optics and LED’s. This would be great for lofts, night clubs, or Goth style home décor. Your teenage daughter will go mad for one.
There you have it. Please make out royalty checks to me, and send them c/o www.affordablelamps.com. Thank a bunch!
