New Aris Wall Light from Murray Feiss
by Alan Williams
The Aris collection from Murray Feiss is a new line that emulates candles in a most effective way. One thing that Murray Feiss does and does very well is serve up an entire line of fixtures for every room in the house. Case in point, the Aris collection features a single pendant, a semi flush, four different chandeliers, a one light, two light, three light and four light vanity fixture array and a kitchen island light.
Aris Chandelier Lighting
All of these have that melted candle wax look, and all of the sockets use a 100 watt medium incandescent bulb or the compact fluorescent equivalent. The Aris series uses a white opal etched inner candle glass surrounded by amber swirl outer glass. If your décor is contemporary construction, Spanish Mediterranean, or even rustic, then this Murray Feiss Aris line is perfect for your needs. This also gets my product line of the month award for July.
Silhouette designs are nothing new for lamp shades, but Elk Lighting seems to feature them more prominently in their Woodland Sunrise Collection as well as their Confetti and Skyline family of fixtures. The Woodland Sunrise lights are the quintessential rustic style collection, with an autumn wood cut drawing of a stark New England forest filling the entire canvas, or in this case, the shade. This collection features five fixtures including a pocket sconce, a table lamp, a large pendant and two smaller pendants. These are the sort of contemporary lighting fixtures that would be ideal for cabins, hunting lodges, Elk, Moose and Rotary clubs, and hotels in the Pacific Northwest.
The pocket sconce measures 11″wide x 8″ height x 5″extension and uses two 60 watt candelabra bulbs. The large Woodland Sunrise pendant light utilizes five 60 watt bulbs, and measures 24″ in diameter, 8″ in height and comes with 30″ of extension rods. Personally, I am not a fan of these types of fixtures, but I know that many of you out there are, so let’s hear it for diversity. And what do I know? I’m just a city slicker. If I lived out in the woods long enough, I might start to like these too.
Varaluz is one of my all time favorite lighting manufacturers because their creativity is seemingly limitless. And I really love that they have such a commitment to using recycled, sustainable materials and energy efficient lighting. This new pendant light caught my eye; it’s from the lighting family called Fascination, and the name definitely fits. Made from recycled glass in clear and amber hues, the beautiful, round gems are held in place by soft metals with Hammered Ore, Nevada, or Kolorado finishes.
Measuring 16″ high and 10″ in diameter, the Fascination pendant light makes a statement. Using three 50W G9 halogen bulbs (Hooray for energy efficient lighting!), this eco-luz rated contemporary lighting masterpiece will really give a new life to your living or dining room and save you big bucks on your electric bill. Just make sure you know how to install this lovely fixture, as it rather heavy and comes with 10′ of hanging cable. This Fascination pendant light is for serious art lighting collectors, for sure!
Varaluz has just unveiled their latest sustainable, earth friendly lighting family appropriately named Flair. This rich family of lights includes wall sconces, pendants, kitchen island lighting, bathroom vanity lights, and even ceiling lights–the whole shebang! As far as contemporary lighting goes, Flair is top notch in design decor. Constructed of painstakingly applied sustainable, natural fibers, the Flair lights are a labor of love for Varaluz artisans and each light has its own edgy and natural character.
A blend of technology and sculpture, Flair lights create a fiery glow and would look eye catching and impressive in any room of your house. Hand crafted with organic components and frosted acrylic diffusers, the elegant glow from Flair lights willl give your home that vibrant glow you’ve always longed for. But it doesn’t stop there. Varaluz Flair fixtures are also earth friendly lighting because they are available in models that use fluorescent, LED, or low voltage bulbs to save you money on your electric bill and protect the environment from wasted energy, all at once.
My personal favorite fixture from the Flair family is definitely the six-light pendant light. Measuring 3′ in diameter, this light is impressive in any situation and certain not to be overlooked for its beauty. So keep your eye out on AffordableLamps.com for these gorgeous new lights–they will soon be added to our inventory and will be there to stay!
