Maybe you’ll grow to find me interesting. Maybe hang me in the bathroom?
These words were spoken by Orphan Annie when Daddy Warbucks was disappointed that the orphanage sent him a girl rather than a boy orphan for his publicity stunt. Determined, street-smart Annie had this smart reply when Warbucks suggested that he’d hang the Mona Lisa in his bathroom. Why am I speaking about Annie: The Musical and hanging things in the bathroom?
Clever Wilmette Lighting has created Belden as bathroom lighting. These bathroom wall sconces have Art Deco end caps in antique bronze or nickel. These metal caps boast Art Deco artistry.
Ready for some art history?
Art Deco arrived during a time of great economic conflict. During the Depression, America had barons like the fictional Daddy Warbucks that were living the high life while most of the working class were waiting in bread lines for food. Art Deco architecture and interior design celebrated chrome finish, geometric shapes, Egyptian motifs, and modern inventions like the radio. Silent film stars faded and talking pictures became all the rage. Train stations were decked out like the pyramids of Egypt. Buildings were designed to look like powerful yachts. It was was a strange time.
Fortunately, American came out of the Depression but became involved in a World War. Bring home your own piece of Art Deco by installing Belden in your bathroom. Wilmette Lighting’s Belden bath lighting is 24.3″ high and 5.2″ in diameter. The Art Deco caps are 3.5″ in diameter. I also recommend reading the classic, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, to understand the time period.
Wilmette Lighting has made Belden available as an incandescent lighting fixture or energy efficient lighting. You can choose also choose the halogen lamp version or fluorescent option. Belden’s incandescent option holds two 120 volt, 60 watts. The CFL version holds one 36 watt, twin tube. All three lamping types can withstand damp settings in this model.
