Cal Lighting

Brand new to our store at www.affordablelamps.com, is Cal Lighting. Finally a company that has low cost, affordable track lighting in both low-voltage and line-voltage varieties. Not to mention their picture lights, sconces, ceiling lights and movable head fixtures for both commercial and home décor purposes. Similar, but far superior to Kovacs type of fixtures, these Cal brand units are priced much better, and the  quality is much better than the aforementioned brand, hands down. Plus I am thrilled to see another company with picture lights that feature clamp-on, goose-necks and arc styles.  This is one area where more competition and variety is needed, and I am pleased to see Cal Lighting is stepping up and delivering. I mean a three light track system for $76.00? What a bargain! Cal lighting has showrooms and warehouses across the USA, in Dallas, North Carolina and Las Vegas plus their main factory in Ontario, California. I expect big results from these fellows. Stay tuned.

Vendom Four Light Low Voltage Architectural Head

OK, folks, listen up. This Vendom Four Light Low Voltage Architectural Head (product page: http://www.affordablelamps.com/plc-tr456.html) from PLC Lighting is a lighting fixture accoutrement for a track lighting system. It is not a complete fixture. So if anybody out there orders this, make sure you either have a PLC track lighting system already, or plan on buying one, because this is a lighting head accessory only, and it needs the track, sort of like an Olympic sprinter. The Vendom measures 10.5″ wide by 8″ in height, and uses four 50 watt halogen bulbs, and is a low voltage lighting head, for low voltage track lights.

At about $50.00 per lighting head, it is a good bargain, even if aesthetically it’s not all that pleasing. Yes, I’m usually a big fan of PLC, and dig most of there product line, but this track lighting head is utilitarian at best, and would be most suitable for retail lighting applications, like the outlet store I visited in Carlsbad this last Labor day weekend.

I really don’t envision this for residential homes, unless you like dry décor.

If you need help with track lighting, give me a call, and I will hook you up with the best system for your needs. It can get a bit tracky!
